Aundh, August 5, 2025: The skyline in Pune’s Aundh-Baner area is being increasingly disfigured by a web of unauthorised overhead cables strung between buildings, with no visible regulatory checks from the authorities.

Private internet service providers are reportedly laying these overhead cables without obtaining permission from either the municipal corporation or housing societies. In several locations, buildings — especially those with mobile towers — are seen covered in dense cable networks, creating visual clutter and urban disarray. Residents say this rampant and unregulated cable installation has severely impacted the area’s appearance and safety.

Locals have raised concerns over low-hanging wires, which have injured birds and pose risks to pedestrians. In some cases, the cables have fallen onto roads, leading to slippery conditions and traffic hazards.

Residents continue to demand a permanent solution and stricter enforcement of cable-laying guidelines to prevent further degradation of the urban landscape.
