Pune – In a touching display of community spirit, residents of Balewadi have successfully rescued and replanted a cherished Peepal tree that was cut down during a municipal cleanliness drive. The tree, a familiar landmark near Sai Chowk, has been given a new lease on life thanks to the collective efforts of the local community.

The relocation of the tree from the footpath to an under-construction garden opposite Moze College was a challenging task. Led by Shrivastava and the society’s gardener, Devidas, the operation received crucial support from Ameya Jagtap,  Rokde, Tare, and Vandana. “We hired an auto to transport the tree and were fortunate to have a JCB on-site due to the construction work, which made replanting possible,” explained Shrivastava.

This grassroots effort underscores the impact of community action. Neighbors came together to preserve a piece of their local environment, demonstrating a deep commitment to their surroundings. The successful replanting of the tree stands as a symbol of their dedication and unity.

“A special thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and cheered us on,” added Shrivastava, his voice filled with emotion. “This tree now stands as a living symbol of our community’s spirit and resilience.”

The replanting not only saved a beloved piece of local heritage but also strengthened community bonds, showcasing the extraordinary results that can be achieved through cooperation and care for the environment.
