Pune: Balewadi Welfare Federation Secures Land For 220 KV Power Substation In Baner-Balewadi
As Hinjewadi is an IT hub near Baner-Balewadi and many IT companies are operating in Baner-Balewadi, large number of housing projects are coming up and the population is increasing. Therefore, the demand for electricity is increasing in leaps and bounds. However, there is a huge gap between the demand and supply of electricity here, and due to frequent interruptions and fluctuations in electricity supply, the citizens of Baner-Balewadi have to bear great inconveniences, affecting their daily lives.
On behalf of the citizens, Balewadi Welfare Federation followed up on this issue with the MSEDCL Officials for several months. When the Balewadi Welfare Federation realised that the project for a separate 220 KV power substation for Baner-Balewadi sanctioned by the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (Mahatransco) was getting delayed for years due to lack of adequate land space, they took the initiative in this regard with several meetings and follow up with MSEDCL, Mahatransco, Collector’s office and Divisional Commissioner’s office. Kothrud MLA and Cabinet Minister Chandrakant Patil’s help was also sought by the Federation for getting the land allocated for the proposed power substation.
Finally, the Federation’s persistent efforts bore fruit and the order to transfer 0.65 hectare land in Balewadi Survey no. 4/1 to Mahatransco for the 220KV power substation was issued by the Collector’s office recently* . The members of the Balewadi Welfare Federation met Mr. Chandrakant Dada Patil today and thanked him for his help getting the land allcoated for the substation site.
Ashok Nawal, Ramesh Rokade, Moreshwar Balwadkar, Ashish Kotamkar and Adv. Mashalkar of the Federation worked hard for this project. On this occasion, Federation Jt. Secy. Moreshwar Balwadkar expressed the confidence that the electricity problems of Baner Balewadi would be solved for a long time once the substation becomes operational.
