Pune, October 6, 2025: In a successful operation, the Baner Police Station under Pune City Police has arrested a thief who had fled to Guwahati, Assam, after stealing valuables worth ₹73,000 from a house in Baner. He stole five mobile phones, one laptop, five ATM cards, and ₹3,000 in cash.

According to the police, a case was registered under IPC Section 305 after an unknown thief entered the complainant’s house through an unlocked door and committed the theft. During the investigation, police received a confidential tip that the accused had traveled to Kolkata. Acting on the orders of senior officers, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector K.B. Daberav and his team traveled to Kolkata, where they learned that the accused had moved to Guwahati.

The team then proceeded to Guwahati and successfully detained the suspect, identified as Mohammed Imran Irfan Sheikh (24), a resident of Malikapur Gallipura, Pyadya Pada, Kolkata, West Bengal. During interrogation, he confessed to selling the stolen laptop at a shop in Chandni Market, Kolkata. The police returned to Kolkata and arrested the buyer, identified as Sheikh Aftab Ali (30), resident of Colin State, Kolkata, who was presented before the local court.

The police recovered one laptop, one mobile phone, and five ATM cards worth ₹35,000 from the accused out of the above stolen items.
