Pune: Bhide Bridge To Remain Closed From Midnight As Metro Resumes Work On Deccan Gymkhana Pedestrian Bridge
Pune, September 9, 2025: Pune Metro has announced that the Bhide Bridge will remain closed for traffic from midnight tonight (12 am, September 10) as work resumes on the pedestrian bridge connecting the Deccan Gymkhana Metro station to the central Peth areas.
Earlier, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the pedestrian bridge linking Chhatrapati Sambhaji Garden Metro Station to the Peth area, which is now open to commuters. Meanwhile, work on the Deccan Gymkhana pedestrian bridge had been temporarily halted during Ganeshotsav to keep the Bhide Bridge open for citizens.
The pedestrian bridge at Deccan Gymkhana is being constructed above the existing Bhide Bridge across the Mula River. Once completed, it will provide direct connectivity to Narayan Peth, Shaniwar Peth, and Laxmi Road, making travel easier for residents and students visiting the area.
During the closure of Bhide Bridge, citizens are advised to use alternative routes via Lakdi Pul, Bal Gandharva Bridge, and Z Bridge. Pune Metro has assured that the pedestrian bridge work will be completed at the earliest to minimise inconvenience.
Apologising for the disruption, Pune Metro urged citizens to cooperate during the construction phase, assuring that the new bridge will significantly improve connectivity and commuter convenience once operational.
