Pune: Bike Accidents Rise In Maan And Bhumkar Chowk Due To Poor Road Conditions
Pune, August 7, 2025– Poor road infrastructure in the Maan and Bhumkar Chowk areas is emerging as a major threat to commuter safety, especially for two-wheeler riders. A growing number of accidents are being reported due to pothole-ridden, muddy, and slippery roads that have gone unattended by the authorities.
In a recent incident, Sai K, a resident of Maan, suffered serious injuries while commuting from Hinjawadi Phase 1 to Maan village. His bike skidded near Ashwini Hospital due to loose gravel and a slippery patch. Sai, who was en route to Baner, lost control of his vehicle and fell, sustaining deep wounds. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
On the same day, another alarming incident occurred at Bhumkar Chowk, where a man and his mother, riding an Activa, skidded and fell right in front of onlookers. The road condition at this spot is especially dangerous due to accumulated mud, potholes, and loose gravel. The duo was taken to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
These back-to-back incidents have sparked outrage among residents and employees commuting in the area. Several complaints have been made, urging the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), MIDC, and PMRDA to inspect and urgently address the deteriorating condition of these roads.
Locals have voiced serious concerns, stating that this is no longer just an inconvenience but a major road safety hazard that demands swift action to prevent further injuries or loss of life.
