Pune: Builder Surendra Agrawal Booked In Kondhwa Land Dispute Case
Pune Crime: A case has been registered against builder Surendra Agrawal in connection with a land dispute in Kondhwa.
It has come to light that Surendra Agrawal, a construction developer, issued a written power of attorney to individuals with a criminal background to take possession of a land parcel.
Pune – A case had already been registered following a violent clash between two groups over the possession of a plot in the Kondhwa area. In the course of investigation, it was revealed that builder Surendra Agrawal had issued a written authorisation to members of one group, known for their criminal tendencies, to take control of the land. Based on this, Kondhwa Police have now registered a case against Agrawal, according to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
The incident occurred on July 12 in the Kausar Baugh area behind Brahma County Society in Kondhwa, where a mob of around 60 to 70 people gathered in the morning. A heated verbal exchange took place, and the police dispersed the crowd by urging calm. However, later that evening, both groups violently attacked each other with sticks.
During the investigation, it was found that Agrawal had given power of attorney to three individuals from one group to take possession of the land. He stated that due to old age and medical issues, he was unable to visit the site or handle the matter himself, and agreed to pay ₹40 lakh for the task—of which a cheque for ₹6.5 lakh had already been issued. One of the three individuals authorised reportedly has a previous charge of murder against him, the police commissioner confirmed.
