Pune: Cancer patients, caregivers find joy and comfort through Healing Verses
On the morning of May 24, the hall of Cipla Palliative Care & Training Centre, Warje, was filled with music, poetry, and heartfelt connection as Healing Verses by कविताKAFE brought together a group of talented artists for a special performance dedicated to patients battling advanced-stage cancer and their devoted caregivers.
The event was not about showcasing artistic prowess, but about offering moments of joy and warmth to those facing immense challenges. Soulful renditions by Anupam Banerjee, Trupti Kale, and Omkar Zanjote set a soothing tone, while Omkar’s guitar and Avikal’s enchanting flute created an atmosphere of comfort and serenity. The rhythmic beats of the clapbox by Anupam added a lively and engaging pulse to the performances, making the experience even more immersive. The programme also featured a set of two evocative poems on Lord Krishna, presented by Garima Mishra, founder of KavitaKafe, adding a spiritual and uplifting dimension to the morning. Avikal accompanied her on flute.

Despite their health conditions, patients and caregivers clapped along to the music, their smiles and laughter a testament to the healing power of art. In a touching gesture, the coordinators presented each artist with a handmade greeting card—lovingly crafted by the patients and caregivers themselves. This small act of gratitude left the performers deeply moved, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present, proving that even in the toughest of times, music and poetry can uplift spirits and foster a sense of community. The artists departed with full hearts, grateful for the opportunity to bring a little light into the lives of these brave individuals, and with a quiet promise to return.
