Pune: Car Falls from Bavdhan Bridge on Highway to Service Road, No Casualties Reported
Pune- 31, July 2025 – A major mishap was narrowly averted on the Pune-Bangalore highway when a speeding car lost control and crashed through the railing of the Mumbai Bengaluru Highway – Bavdhan Bridge, plunging onto the service road below. The shocking incident left the driver and co-passenger of the container car injured but miraculously claimed no lives.
The accident occurred when the vehicle veered off course and smashed into the bridge’s railing with such force that the barrier gave way. The car fell onto the service road below, which fortunately was empty at the time. Residents of the nearby Pebbles 2 society had a narrow escape.
While no fatalities were reported, the incident has sparked fresh concerns over highway safety and the structural integrity of bridge railings. Locals are demanding urgent inspection and repairs to prevent future disasters.
Residents of nearby societies, especially those from Pebbles-2, are demanding the installation of heavy-duty steel road barriers and soundproof walls along the highway near the Bavdhan Bridge to enhance safety and reduce noise pollution.
Bavdhan police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
