Pune | June 6, 2025 — To mark World Environment Day, the Federation of Chakan Industries, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Pune, organized an environmental awareness program on June 4, 2025, at OEN Industries Ltd. The event focused on the pressing issue of plastic pollution and urged industries and individuals to adopt eco-friendly practices.

The event saw the participation of key dignitaries including Shri Pratik Bharaney, Regional Director of CPCB Pune; Shri Nitin Gore, Member of MPCB; Babasaheb Kukde and Navnath Avtade, Sub-Regional Officers of MPCB Pune. Also present were Dilip Batwal, CEO of the Federation of Chakan Industries; Madhav Khandekar, Chief Officer of Alandi Municipal Council; Vinod Jain, Federation of Chakan Industries; and Hari Rao from OEN Industries. Around 90 company representatives, local leaders, environmentalists, and citizens also attended the event.

Celebrated under the global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”, the program ran from May 22 to June 5, 2025, aiming to spread awareness about the harmful impacts of plastic waste on the environment. A detailed presentation highlighted the irreversible damage caused by pollution and stressed the urgent need to curb plastic usage.

Addressing the gathering, Nitin Gore encouraged industries to allocate their CSR funds toward local environmental initiatives. Madhav Khandekar raised concerns over the growing pollution in the Indrayani River and appealed for corporate support in its cleanup. Babasaheb Kukde emphasized adopting a natural, pollution-free lifestyle, while Dilip Batwal urged industries to reduce electricity usage, avoid single-use plastics, and take active steps in tree plantation.

The event concluded with a pledge led by Navnath Avtade where attendees committed to eliminating single-use plastic from their routines. A tree plantation drive followed the pledge, reinforcing the message of sustainable living.
