Pune, July 14, 2025: A high-level meeting was held to address the persistent traffic issues in the Baner-Balewadi area, during which Higher and Technical Education Minister and MLA Chandrakant Dada Patil directed officials to take immediate measures.
Residents of Baner-Balewadi, who have long been troubled by traffic congestion, encroachments, incomplete roads, and inadequate public amenities, presented their grievances in detail. Senior officials from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Traffic Police, Police Commissioner’s office, NHAI, and PMRDA attended the meeting.
Minister Patil took serious note of the issues raised by citizens and instructed all departments concerned to act promptly. He directed that all major problems be resolved before the upcoming festive season.
Key concerns highlighted by citizens included traffic management at Jupiter Chowk, Ganpati Mandir Chowk, Dasara Chowk, Mamta Chowk, CM International, Sai Chowk, and Radha Chowk, increasing the number of wardens, removing encroachments, completing pending roadworks, repairing drainage at waterlogging spots, constructing substations, and addressing disturbances caused by liquor shops.
Citizens also stressed the need for footpath repairs, bus stops, tree trimming, and resolving water stagnation under the metro bridges and at Nanavare Bridge. Officials assured that immediate steps would be taken.
The long-pending issue of the service road underpass near Sadanand Residency Hotel was also raised. Patil directed NHAI officials to start work on this urgently and complete it on a war footing.
The meeting was attended by representatives of all federations from Balewadi, along with office-bearers from societies in Pashan, Someshwarwadi, Sutarwadi, Sus, and Mahalunge.
Former corporators Amol Balwadkar, Jyoti Kalamkar, Swapnali Saykar, along with several other local leaders and residents, were present in large numbers.
