Pune Citizens To Hold Protest On October 4 Demanding Release Of Sonam Wangchuk
Pune, October 3, 2025: Citizens’ groups under the banner of ISIA have announced a protest in Pune on Saturday, October 4, demanding the immediate release of Ladakh-based education reformist and environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk.
The protest will include a padayatra (foot march) from Rani Jhansi Statue to Sambhaji Garden, followed by public demonstrations at key spots including Bal Gandharva Bus Stop, Sambhaji Garden Footpath, and Jungli Maharaj Road.
The march is scheduled to begin at 4 pm.
Organizers Avinash and Milind said the protest seeks not only Wangchuk’s release but also draws attention to the need for sustainable development and the protection of Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem.
“We are not asking for favors – we are asking for justice, dignity, and survival for Ladakh,” the organizers stated.
