Pune: CNG Pump At Dhayari Sparks Public Outcry Over Traffic Chaos And Safety Concerns
Pune, July 9, 2025: A CNG pump located at Dhayari Gaon, Pari Company Chowk, has become a major source of hardship for residents due to daily traffic congestion, safety risks, and alleged irregularities in its approvals. Citizens have accused the administration of turning a blind eye and local representatives of adopting an indifferent stance, fuelling public anger.
The pump reportedly violates multiple conditions mentioned in its undertaking, including failure to demolish old constructions, non-compliance with road widening norms, and discrepancies in approved maps. Despite glaring lapses, authorities have not taken corrective measures.
Activists revealed through Right to Information (RTI) queries that the plot was approved for a CNG pump with strict conditions, such as maintaining a 30-meter-wide DP road and removing existing structures, which have not been fulfilled. Moreover, the final fire safety clearance is still pending due to unresolved deficiencies.
Residents allege that political patronage is shielding these violations, while they continue to suffer from daily traffic snarls and pollution in the area. “How is the CNG pump allowed to operate despite violating conditions in the undertaking?” questioned locals.
Dhayari residents, led by AAP’s city president Dhananjay Benkar, have warned of a mass agitation if the issue is not addressed promptly.
