Pune Collision Between Mercedes and Swift Sparks Chaos; No Kidnapping, Says Police
A routine drive turned into a dramatic and disturbing road rage incident in the Wagholi area of Pune on Sunday, after a collision between a Mercedes and a Swift car escalated far beyond a simple traffic accident. The aftermath saw a heated confrontation, damage to property, and serious allegations involving the occupants of both vehicles — sparking confusion, fear, and widespread attention across the city.
According to preliminary details, the accident occurred on the busy route heading toward Nagar Road, where the two vehicles — a high-end Mercedes and a Maruti Swift — collided. Eyewitnesses say the situation quickly spiraled out of control after the crash. Occupants of the Swift reportedly reacted with aggression, allegedly damaging the luxury car and confronting the passengers inside.
Shockingly, during the heated exchange, there were claims that an 8-year-old child who had been traveling in the Mercedes was forcibly taken away by individuals from the Swift vehicle, allegedly as a means to pressure the other party for monetary compensation. Adding to the distress, reports also suggested that women present in the Mercedes were manhandled during the confrontation.
The volatile scene created panic in the area, drawing the attention of bystanders and eventually prompting a swift response from local authorities. The Wagholi police rushed to the location and managed to de-escalate the situation. Both parties involved were brought to the police station for questioning, and the process of registering a formal FIR is currently underway.
However, in a late evening update, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Somay Munde addressed the growing public concern and clarified several critical details. “Yes, the accident did happen, and there was a confrontation between the two parties. But there was no kidnapping and no fatalities reported. Both groups are cooperating with the investigation, and legal procedures are being followed,” he confirmed.
The police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and are recording statements from eyewitnesses to piece together the sequence of events. Authorities have also urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified versions of the story on social media, which could fuel unnecessary panic.
