As assembly elections approach, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has directed the immediate removal of all unauthorized flex banners across the city, emphasizing the need for compliance before the Election Code of Conduct comes into effect. He warned that any delay or failure to act will result in strict penalties.

In recent weeks, there has been a sharp rise in political banners with messages aimed at attracting voters. These, along with numerous unauthorized commercial advertisements, have defaced Pune’s streets, prompting swift action from the administration.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has identified 380 designated spots where temporary advertisements, including banners and posters, can be legally displayed. Permissions for these spots can be obtained through regional offices, in line with a state government order issued in 2022, aimed at curbing unauthorized advertising.

The PMC’s Sky Sign and License department has also issued an advisory, urging individuals and organizations to secure the necessary permissions to avoid further defacement of the city’s landscape.
