Pune Commuters To Get Live MSRTC Bus Tracking On Mobile App By August End
Pune, July 23, 2025: In a move to make public transport smarter and more commuter-friendly, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is set to roll out a live bus tracking feature on its official mobile app. The facility, expected to go live by the end of August, will initially cover over 700 MSRTC buses operating in and around Pune.
Once implemented, Pune will become one of the first cities in Maharashtra to offer real-time tracking of state transport buses to passengers.
As told to Hindustan Times, Arun Siya, Pune MSRTC divisional controller, said, “The MSRTC mobile app, already available on the Play Store, will allow users to view the live location of their bus by entering the trip code mentioned on their ticket. Along with tracking, passengers can also book tickets, check routes, get estimated arrival times, and access emergency assistance features directly through the app.”
Currently, the live tracking system is in its trial phase and is only accessible internally to MSRTC officials for monitoring operations. Based on assessments from the pilot rollout, it will be made available for public use across the state.
“The tracking feature is part of our broader strategy to modernise state-run transport and improve service reliability. We aim to make commuting more predictable and encourage more citizens to use MSRTC buses,” Siya added.
The MSRTC plans to expand this facility across Maharashtra after its Pune launch, further boosting efforts to make public transport more efficient and passenger-centric.
