Pune: Complaint Filed Against Individual For Extorting ₹10 Lakh From Tehsildar
Khed tehsildar Jyoti Deore has filed a police complaint against ration card holder Mahesh Laxman Nehre for allegedly threatening and demanding ₹10 lakh to resolve a ration card issue. Deore has also implicated a senior grade clerk from the rehabilitation and employment guarantee scheme department, suggesting that they be questioned in the case.
According to the police complaint, the issue began when a person complained that an officer had taken ₹4,000 online payment to issue a ration card. During the investigation, Deore discovered that some ration cards were missing. Nehre, upon learning of the anomaly, sent a mobile message to Deore demanding ₹10 lakh to resolve the issue.
Deore has demanded a thorough probe and action against the culprit. Inspector P More confirmed that a case has been lodged, and the investigation is currently underway.
