Pune: In a shocking incident, two individuals were arrested by Nanded City Police for allegedly following men visiting Budhwar Peth for prostitution and blackmailing them. The accused reportedly trailed their targets to their homes and extorted money by threatening to defame them.

According to the police, the duo — identified as Ayush Raju Chougule and Sadaf Pathan — demanded ₹20,000 from a complainant, claiming they would post his details online if he failed to pay. When the victim refused, they threatened to expose his visit to Budhwar Peth and ruin his reputation.

The accused even made a fake complaint to the police helpline, alleging the victim had defrauded them of ₹20,000. Acting swiftly, Nanded City Police verified the situation and discovered the extortion attempt. Both suspects were arrested and booked under relevant sections.

In another unrelated case, police in Mangalevadi taluka unearthed a chilling crime straight out of a suspense thriller. A charred body of a woman was initially believed to be a case of suicide. However, investigations revealed the married woman staged her death with the help of her lover — her cousin-in-law — by murdering a third woman and burning her body to fake her own death. Police have arrested the woman and her lover, and are working to establish the identity of the burned victim.
