Pune, July 17, 2025: A shocking incident has surfaced in Pune’s Nanded City area, where a young man was allegedly blackmailed and assaulted after meeting another youth on a gay dating app. Police have arrested one accused while the second suspect is currently on the run.

According to police reports, the complainant met the accused through the dating app Grindr. The accused invited the victim near Nanded City gate, forcibly took him into a car, and attempted to sexually assault him in an open field. During the ordeal, the accused allegedly recorded a video of the incident and used it to blackmail the victim.

The victim was threatened and asked to pay ₹10,000, with the accused warning that the video would be made viral if he refused. When the victim declined, the accused allegedly snatched his mobile phone and transferred ₹10,000 from his friend’s Google Pay and PhonePe accounts. The victim was also threatened with dire consequences if he reported the matter to anyone.

Nanded City Police have registered a case under sections 309(3), 115(2), 351(3), and 131(2)(5) of IPC 2023 (FIR No. 138/2025). The arrested accused has been identified as Robin alias Shubham Upendra Kamble (27), a resident of Nanded Phata, Sinhagad Road. He has been remanded to police custody until July 17, 2025. The second accused, Omkar Mandlik, remains absconding, and police efforts are underway to trace him.
