Pune: In a shocking case of crime driven by illicit relationships, a man was brutally murdered in Loni Kalbhor, allegedly by his wife and her lover. The victim, identified as Ravindra Kashinath Kalbhor (45), was attacked while he was asleep at his residence in Wadalewasti, Loni Kalbhor. The accused, Shobha Ravindra Kalbhor (42) and Gorakh Trimbak Kalbhor (41), were arrested by Loni Kalbhor police within three hours of the incident.
The gruesome murder took place around 2 a.m. on Monday, April 1. According to police reports, Ravindra was struck on the head with a wooden stick and a stone, leading to his instant death. His body was discovered in a pool of blood the next morning.
Investigations revealed that Shobha and Gorakh were involved in an extramarital affair, which Ravindra was aware of. Frequent altercations between the husband and wife led Shobha to leave for her maternal home in Theur with her children. Frustrated with the continuous disputes, she and Gorakh allegedly conspired to eliminate Ravindra.
Gorakh, a close acquaintance of Ravindra, often visited his home. The two even purchased a four-wheeler together, with Gorakh lending Ravindra ₹3.5 lakh. On the night of the crime, Ravindra, who had been drinking, fell asleep outside his house. Gorakh reportedly took advantage of the situation and attacked him with a spade handle, killing him on the spot before fleeing.
Police began their investigation after receiving information about the bloodied body on Tuesday morning. Senior Inspector Rajendra Panhale of Loni Kalbhor Police Station led the probe. Technical analysis of call records revealed that Shobha and Gorakh were in contact before and after the crime, strengthening the case against them. Upon interrogation, both confessed to the murder.
Authorities have booked the duo, and further investigations are underway. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the tragic consequences of illicit relationships and domestic disputes.
