Pune: Dead Pigs Toll Reaches To 47 Found In Nala Between Bharatinagar and Bhimale Tower; Health Concerns Rise, Toll Rises To 47Â
Pune: A foul stench has engulfed the area between Bharatinagar and Bhimale Tower due to the recurring discovery of dead pigs in the drain, raising fears of disease outbreaks. Concerned citizens had lodged complaints at the public relations office of Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol regarding the issue. Â
Dushyant Mohol, a social activist from the area stated, “In response, Assistant Commissioner Vijay Naikal, Health Officer Anjali Tilekar, and other municipal health officials convened a meeting to address the matter. While post-mortem examinations were conducted earlier, the exact cause of death remains unclear. Blood samples from the pigs have been sent to a medical laboratory in Bhopal, with test reports expected on February 12.”

- Relocation of all pigs to the Thergaon shelter house
- 24×7 medical monitoring of the situation
- Post-mortem and blood tests of dead pigs in Bhopal laboratory
- Strict action against illegal pig farming
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has assured a prompt response, emphasizing that public health cannot be compromised. Local representatives, including Vasanti Jadhav, Vaibhav Murkute, Kailas Mohol, Neelma Dhanwate, Nana Bhutkar, and Kishor Bharekar, were present at the meeting.
