Pune: Two robbers who threatened a college girl with a machete and snatched her gold chain on Hanuman Hill have been arrested by the Deccan Police. Investigations revealed that the accused were involved in four robbery cases in the same area over recent weeks.

The arrested individuals are identified as Swapnil Shivaji Dombe (32), a resident of Janata Vasahat, Parvati Paytha, and Aniket Anil Swami (21), originally from Janata Vasahat but currently residing in Kirkatwadi, Sinhagad Road. Both are habitual offenders with prior cases registered against them at Deccan and Sinhagad Road police stations, according to Police Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Singh Gill.

Four days ago, the duo targeted a college girl who was walking with a friend on Hanuman Hill, threatening her with a machete before fleeing with her gold chain. Based on the complaint, the Deccan Police initiated an investigation using CCTV footage and technical analysis. The suspects were apprehended after their suspicious activities matched evidence from the scene. During questioning, the two admitted to committing four robberies in the area over the past few months.

In a separate incident, the police arrested Monty alias Tejas Kharade, another habitual offender from Janata Vasahat, Parvati Paytha, who was found roaming Hanuman Hill with a machete, allegedly preparing for a robbery.

The breakthrough in the investigation came from identifying a sticker on the motorcycle used in the crimes, which lacked a license plate. CCTV footage led the police to trace the vehicle to Pandavnagar Police Chowki, where the robbers were eventually tracked down.
