Pune: Deccan Resident Finds Chicken In Veg Thali Served At Food Court In Pavilion Mall, Seeks FDA Action
Pune | July 26, 2025 – A family outing turned into a distressing experience for a Deccan-based resident after they reportedly found a piece of chicken in a vegetarian thali served at a food court in Pavilion Mall, Pune.
The incident took place at the popular food joint Jamawali Biryani, located in the mall’s food court. According to the complaint, the customer had ordered a Veg Lababdar Paneer Thali expecting a fully vegetarian meal. However, upon inspection, they allegedly discovered a piece of chicken in the dish.
The complainant claimed that despite pointing out the issue, the chef insisted it was paneer and not chicken. The customer, accompanied by family members, stated that at least six individuals witnessed the mix-up and confirmed that it was indeed chicken.
“This was not just a mistake but a breach of trust for those who follow a vegetarian diet for religious or personal reasons,” said the complainant, urging the mall authorities and food court management to take strict action against the outlet.
The incident has sparked concern among visitors about food safety and labeling practices in public dining spaces. Pavilion Mall authorities are yet to release an official statement on the matter.The complainant informed that the FDA has also been informed about the incident.
