Pune District Tops State In National Lok Adalat: ₹665 Crore Settlement Amount, Over 1.45 Lakh Cases Resolved in a Single Day

Pune, September 14, 2025: Under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of Pune District Legal Services Authority, M.K. Mahajan, the National Lok Adalat was organized on Saturday (September 13) at the Ashoka Hall of the District and Sessions Court, Shivajinagar. 

Out of 2,43,424 cases filed for settlement, 1,27,541 cases were successfully resolved, along with 17,560 cases under a special campaign, making a total of 1,45,101 cases resolved. Pune District secured the top position in the state through this initiative, collecting a settlement fee of ₹665,44,81,621.

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge Mahendra K. Mahajan. Judges Revati Dere-Mohite and Sandeep Marne of the Bombay High Court conveyed their best wishes through video conferencing.

Major Success in Pre-Litigation Cases

The Lok Adalat witnessed significant success in pre-litigation cases, with a total settlement amount of ₹98,25,62,394. Out of 1,84,744 pre-litigation cases filed, 1,03,066 were successfully resolved. In addition, out of 58,680 post-litigation claims filed for settlement, 24,475 cases were resolved successfully, along with 17,560 pending cases under the special campaign. This resulted in a recovery of ₹567,19,19,227 through settlements.

The types of cases resolved included: 50,380 bank loan recovery cases, 18,374 compoundable criminal cases, 162 electricity bill cases, 7 labor dispute cases, 37 land acquisition cases, 35 motor accident claim tribunal cases, 68 matrimonial disputes, 2,004 negotiable instruments cases, 463 other civil cases, 1,376 revenue cases, 48,167 water tax cases, 5 consumer disputes, and 6,463 other cases. The work was conducted through 135 panels in total.
