Pune: Doctor Booked for Molesting Woman Colleague in Housing Society

In yet another disturbing incident that highlights growing concerns over women’s safety, a 35-year-old male doctor has been booked for allegedly molesting a 28-year-old woman doctor inside her residence at a housing society in Pune.
The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of May 8, around 3 am, when the accused, identified as Dr. Deepak Balaji Dhawale, a resident of Kadam Heights in Shivshambho Nagar, forcibly entered the complainant’s apartment. Both the victim and the accused live in the same society and are known to each other.
According to the FIR lodged at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, the female doctor was asleep when the accused rang her doorbell. Upon answering, he allegedly barged into her home uninvited, pushed her, and slapped her when she tried to resist and escape. The complaint further states that he grabbed her hand, tried to pull her closer, and molested her.
Following the traumatic incident, the victim approached the police and registered a formal complaint. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and Police is currently leading the investigation.
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stricter residential safety and accountability, especially in cases where victims and perpetrators are part of the same community. Further inquiries are underway.
