Pune: Elina Living Society Residents From NIBM Annexe Celebrate Bhondla With Traditional Songs And Festive Spirit
Pune, October 8, 2025: The women and young girls of Elina Living Society, located in NIBM Annexe, came together to celebrate the traditional Bhondla festival with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour.
The vibrant event marked the continuation of an age-old Maharashtrian custom observed during the month of Ashwin (September–October), coinciding with Navratri and Kojagiri Poornima.
Bhondla, also known as Hadga, is a joyous folk festival celebrated by women, particularly in rural and semi-urban Maharashtra. It symbolizes community bonding, gratitude, and the spirit of togetherness. Participants at Elina Living gathered in a circle, singing traditional Bhondla songs, clapping rhythmically, and rejoicing in the festive atmosphere.
Dressed in colourful sarees and traditional attire, the women performed rituals that connect generations through shared heritage. The event not only revived local traditions but also strengthened community ties among residents.
Through such celebrations, societies like Elina Living are helping preserve Maharashtra’s rich cultural legacy, ensuring that folk traditions like Bhondla continue to thrive in urban settings with the same devotion and joy as in villages.
