Pune: A student from a government engineering college was robbed of his gold chain worth ₹35,000 at Hanuman Tekdi on Sunday afternoon.

The victim, residing in the college hostel, filed a complaint at the Deccan Police Station. Around 3:45 PM, while walking at Hanuman Tekdi near Fergusson College, he was threatened by two assailants who stole the chain from his neck after issuing death threats. The terrified student immediately reported the incident to the police. Sub-Inspector Mahesh Bhosale is leading the investigation, and efforts are underway to trace the culprits.

The incident adds to a spate of crimes at the city’s hills. Recently, a college girl was gang-raped near Bopdev Ghat, and incidents of muggings have occurred at Baner and Vetal Tekdi. Hanuman Tekdi itself has seen cases where students and walkers were threatened, assaulted, or robbed.

Measures like installing bright lights at popular hill spots, including Vetal Tekdi, Hanuman Tekdi, Warje, and Pashan-Baner Road, are being implemented to ensure safety for the numerous citizens who frequent these areas.
