Pune: Engineering Student Vijay Sawant Represents India At World Water Forum In Bali, Earns Global Recognition
Pimpri, Pune (November 28, 2024): Vijay Ranjit Sawant, a mechanical engineering student from Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCoE), proudly represented India at the 10th World Water Forum held last week in Bali, Indonesia. His groundbreaking research on using artificial intelligence for water management in agriculture earned widespread acclaim, including praise from the forum’s president, Loïc Fauchon.
The World Water Forum, a prestigious global platform addressing water-related challenges, has been convening for over 30 years to showcase research and propose innovative solutions. Organized every three years, the forum attracts young researchers worldwide to present their findings on critical water issues.
This year’s event saw over 64,000 participants and researchers from 160 countries, including prominent political leaders, entrepreneurs, and officials from Europe and the Global South. Among them, Tesla CEO Elon Musk attended to inspire and encourage young innovators.
Vijay Sawant presented his research paper on “AI-Driven Water Management in Agriculture”, focusing on:
- Identifying and enhancing natural water resources.
- Strategies for water management, conservation, and storage.
- Proposing AI-based solutions for sustainable water usage in farming.
His work was ranked among the top 10 best research papers globally, marking a proud moment for India.
Dr. Dnyaneshwar Landge, President of PCT, lauded Vijay’s achievement, calling it an inspiration for young Indian researchers.
