Pune, December 28: The Flying Squad of the Pune Excise Department conducted a major operation, seizing illegal liquor and vehicles worth ₹31,23,200. The action took place in Arangaon village of Jamkhed taluka in Ahmednagar district and Lonarwadi area of Paranda taluka in Dharashiv district, according to Regional Deputy Commissioner Sagar Dhomkar.

In the first operation, the squad raided near an HP petrol pump on the Shrigonda-Jamkhed road. They found Goa-manufactured liquor being transferred from a Mahindra Scorpio to a Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. The team seized 27 boxes containing 324 sealed bottles of Adrial Whisky (750 ml each), along with the two vehicles. The total value of the seized items in this raid was ₹16,72,720. A case was registered against the accused involved.

In a follow-up investigation, the team conducted another raid near Bhairavnath Temple in Lonarwadi, Dharashiv district. They confiscated 18 boxes of Adrial Whisky (216 bottles of 750 ml), along with an Ashok Leyland truck and a Maruti Swift Dzire car. The total value of the goods seized in this raid was ₹14,50,480. Cases were registered against two individuals.

The accused include Deepak Atmaram Khedkar, Bharat Shahaji Ralebhat, Manoj Dattatray Raypalli, Dattatray Gangadhar Sonawane from Ahmednagar district, and Shatrugun Navnath Kirdak and Kailas Anna Jogdand from Dharashiv district. They have been booked under provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949.

The operation was led by Inspector Narendra Thorat, with support from Deputy Inspectors Viraj Mane and Dheeraj Saste, and officers Pratap Kadam, Satish Paundhe, Shashikant Bhat, Ranjit Chavan, Anil Thorat, Amol Dalvi, and Rahul Taralkar.
