Pune, August 5, 2025: The Maharashtra Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a comprehensive inspection drive at all food outlets located along the Pune-Mumbai Expressway food plaza, following hygiene concerns reported at a branch of Cafe Goodluck.

Detailed checks will be conducted at every food outlet on the expressway. The  food safety officers will assess hygiene practices, pest control measures, and mandatory documentation over the next month to ensure compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Regulations.

The inspections will be based on Schedule 4 of the FSSAI norms, which include checks on sanitary conditions, safe water usage, separation of raw and cooked food, pest control, and record maintenance.

This move comes after increased public concern over food quality during monsoons.

Cafe Goodluck recently came under scrutiny when a customer allegedly discovered a dead cockroach in their egg bhurji on July 25. The FDA issued a notice but did not suspend the outlet’s licence.

In a related development, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed all food businesses to prominently display their registration certificates along with QR codes linked to the Food Safety Connect App. This aims to empower customers and simplify the grievance redressal process.
