Pune, June 12 – The Urban Development Department has released the official schedule for preparing the ward structure ahead of the upcoming municipal elections in Maharashtra. According to the timeline, the final ward delimitation will be declared on September 4, following which reservation draw will take place and the election dates will be announced. Elections are likely to be held by the end of October or the first week of November, officials indicated.

As per the government’s directive, the process includes multiple steps:

  • June 11–16: Formation of enumerator groups and preparation of draft ward structure.
  • June 17–18: Verification of census data.
  • June 19–23: Field inspections of proposed ward boundaries.
  • June 24–30: Preparation of ward maps using Google Maps.
  • July 1–3: Ground validation of marked ward boundaries.
  • July 4–7: Committee signatures on the draft ward plan.
  • July 8–10: Submission of draft ward plan to the State Election Commission (SEC).
  • Following SEC’s approval, the draft ward structure will be published between July 22–31, inviting public objections and suggestions.
  • August 1–11: Hearings on objections by authorized government officers.
  • August 12–18: Finalization of ward structure based on the hearings.
  • August 29–September 4: Final ward delimitation to be published through an official gazette notification by the State Election Commission.

This process aims to ensure transparency and adequate public consultation ahead of the municipal polls across the state.
