Pune: Firefighter's Quick Action Prevents Major Fire In CNG Bus Near Hirabaug Chowk
Pune – Around 2:30 PM today, firefighter Rahul Waghmode from the Erandwane Fire Station, who had just completed his morning shift, was heading home to Moshi on his two-wheeler.
As he passed Hirabaug Chowk on Bajirao Road, he noticed smoke and flames coming from the rear of a PMPML CNG bus (Hadapsar-Bhekrai Nagar route). Acting swiftly, he immediately alerted the fire brigade control room.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, he helped evacuate passengers from the bus with the assistance of the driver and conductor.
Using a fire extinguisher from the bus, he managed to douse the fire within five minutes, preventing a major accident. His prompt response saved both passengers and the bus from significant damage.
Passengers, locals, and PMPML staff praised Waghmode’s bravery and expressed their gratitude to the fire department for his commendable efforts.
