Pune: Food And Drug Administration Seizes Nearly ₹2 Crore Worth Of Adulterated Food Stock
Pune, October 16, 2025: Under the guidance of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Minister Narhari Zirwal, officials from the department conducted a major raid as part of the campaign “San Maharashtra Cha – Sankalp Ann Surakshatecha” (Festival of Maharashtra – Commitment to Food Safety). During the drive, the FDA seized adulterated food stock worth ₹1.97 crore to protect public health and consumer safety.
As part of the festive-season inspection drive, the department checked 353 food establishments, issuing improvement notices to 196 outlets. A total of 654 food samples — including khoya, sweet mawa, ghee, edible oils, milk, paneer, butter, vanaspati, and bhagar — were collected for testing.
Out of the 216 samples analyzed so far, 190 were of standard quality, 5 were substandard, 8 were misbranded, and 13 were found unsafe. Legal proceedings are underway against the offenders under relevant food safety regulations.
The Joint Commissioner of FDA, Pune Division, Suresh Annapure, urged citizens to remain alert during the festive season and to report any suspicion of food adulteration by calling the toll-free helpline number 1800 222 365.
