Pune: Former NCP Leader Deepak Mankar, Son, and In-Laws Booked in ₹8 Crore Fraud Case
Troubles have deepened for former Pune city NCP president Deepak Mankar, who now faces allegations of submitting forged documents. The case has also led to FIRs being filed against his son, Karan Mankar, and his father-in-law, Sukhen Shah. The cases have been registered at Samarth Police Station.
The matter came to light following suspicious transactions in the bank account of a man named Shantanu Kukde. Large sums of money were transferred from Kukde’s account to the accounts of Deepak Mankar, his son Karan, and Sukhen Shah. Police have since begun a detailed investigation.
Senior Inspector Umesh Gitte of Samarth Police Station has lodged complaints in the matter, resulting in two FIRs. One FIR names Shantanu Samuel Kukde, Sukhen Sureshchandra Shah, Raunak Bharat Jain, and others. The second names Shantanu Samuel Kukde, Karan Deepak Mankar, and others.
Shantanu Kukde is already facing five criminal cases, including a rape charge for allegedly sexually assaulting a foreign woman under the pretext of offering her shelter. Shockingly, over ₹100 crore worth of transactions have taken place through his bank account.
Police investigation revealed that approximately ₹1.75 crore was transferred from Kukde’s account to those of Deepak and Karan Mankar. Additionally, Sukhen Shah received ₹6.52 crore in his account.
When questioned, Mankar denied any land transaction with Kukde and submitted certain documents which were later found to be forged. Sukhen Shah claimed that his son Siddhant was planning to build a resort on 10 acres in Mulshi and that Kukde had invested ₹5.22 crore, while Raunak Jain invested ₹1.30 crore. Shah submitted a stamped agreement, which also turned out to be fake after police verification, leading to his booking as well.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar is personally monitoring the case. Authorities believe that the truth in this high-profile case will emerge soon.
