Pune: Four Masked Men Target Two Flats In Undri Societies Near Country Club, Resident Loses Rs 15,000 Cash
Undri, August 11, 2025: Residents of Nyati Ethos and Nyati Evara—twin housing societies atop Undri Hilltop—are on high alert after four masked men allegedly broke into two unoccupied flats in the early hours of Monday.
According to the society management, the incident took place between 1:50 am and 3:39 am. CCTV footage from Someshwar Society, located opposite Nyati Ethos, shows the suspects entering a flat in the Thames building at 1:50 am and leaving at 3:13 am. Two of the intruders then moved to another flat in the Mississippi building at 3:13 am, exiting 26 minutes later.

Both flats were unoccupied at the time. From one apartment, the burglars allegedly stole ₹15,000 in cash, while no other valuables were reported missing. There was no confrontation with residents during the break-in.
Investigations suggest the suspects gained entry through an unsecured area behind the Mississippi building near a cricket ground. Police sources said the intruders appeared to have prior knowledge of the society’s CCTV blind spots and the positions of security guards.
A nearby resident reportedly noticed suspicious movement but did not inform security personnel or police. Authorities believe the same group may have been operating in the area for the past one to two months, targeting unoccupied flats.
Nyati Ethos comprises 317 flats, while Nyati Evara has over 330. The societies lack a public access road, with residents relying on an internal road owned by Someshwar Society. Inadequate street lighting and limited CCTV coverage are now being flagged as major security concerns by residents.
When Pune Pulse spoke to the Kalepadal police station officials they informed that investigation is ongoing in the incident. Similar house thefts took place in Dhanashree Aangan and Ashiyana in Handewadi about a month ago. These incidents highlight the importance of police patrolling, proper illuminated access roads and CCTV surveillance in the area.
