Pune: From Norway To Canada, Ex-Hinjawadi IT Workers Demand Civic Improvements
Pune, July 9, 2025: The long-standing infrastructure issues plaguing Hinjawadi’s Rajiv Gandhi IT Park have drawn attention from across the globe, as former IT employees now working overseas appeal for urgent government intervention.
In a series of videos shared on social media by the Forum for IT Employees (FITE), professionals based in Norway and Canada expressed concern over the area’s deteriorating infrastructure, highlighting persistent problems such as waterlogging, damaged roads, traffic congestion, and erratic electricity supply.
One of the videos features Basanagouda Patil, currently working in Norway, who previously spent years in Hinjawadi. “Part of me is still attached to Hinjawadi as it shaped my career. Seeing loyal taxpayers suffer due to poor infrastructure is disheartening. It’s high time authorities take action and give Hinjawadi the infrastructure it deserves,” Patil said.

Another video by Gaurav Sisodiya, now based in Canada and a former Hinjawadi employee (2018–2021), called the situation “painful.” He said, “IT workers contribute significantly in taxes but see little in return. The government must focus on resolving these issues to attract more companies and create more jobs.”

The issue gained traction last month after videos of waterlogging in Hinjawadi went viral, including visuals of a PMPML bus partially submerged in rainwater. Despite being a major IT hub, the area continues to struggle with basic civic amenities, leaving citizens and businesses frustrated year after year.
