Pune: From Traffic Jams To Garbage Heaps: Kondhwa’s Growing Civic Crisis Remains Neglected
Pune, June 19, 2025: Residents of Kondhwa, especially those living near Zam Zam Cafe, Lifeline Hospital Road, Mayfair Eleganza, and Kausarbaugh, are facing daily struggles due to severe traffic congestion, encroachments, and poor civic infrastructure.
According to Nisar Shaikh from the Kausarbaugh Residents Forum, the situation on Zam Zam Cafe and Lifeline Hospital roads has turned into a nightmare. “Traffic congestion has become a daily chaos. Noise and air pollution levels have risen drastically, and civic authorities continue to ignore our repeated complaints,” he said. He also questioned how so many commercial outlets have been allowed to operate on a narrow 9-metre road, worsening the traffic and pedestrian safety.
Another local resident, Wasim Khan, raised serious concerns about the rampant encroachments from Kausarbaugh Road to Bhim Nagar and Grand Darbar Hotel.
“Footpaths are blocked, P1 and P2 parking norms are being violated, and illegal shops are mushrooming on residential side margins. The situation is spiraling out of control with increasing hooliganism and lawlessness,” he added.
Garbage mismanagement is another growing concern in the area. Residents of Manish Park Phase 1, 2, and 3 report piles of garbage lying unattended, leading to serious health hazards.
A resident of Manish Park society has been complaining about the unresolved garbage issues. This spot at the corner of Manish Park society has been ignored by the PMC for the last one decade. Only temporary clean ups have been arranged by the PMC but no permanent solution.
Locals are now demanding immediate intervention from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and police authorities to restore order, remove encroachments, ensure proper waste management, and regulate traffic movement.

Until then, the residents of Kondhwa continue to live under constant noise, traffic stress, and health risks, all while watching their once peaceful neighbourhood slip into civic chaos.
