Pune, August 11, 2025: Gurukul Sanskrit Academy celebrated International Sanskrit Day. The academy, part of Geeta Ashram Pune, observed the day with great enthusiasm on August 9, 2025, coinciding with Narali Purnima.
The academy was established 13 years ago under the guidance of Gurudev Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasaji and senior teacher Ajit Menon. The institution offers free Sanskrit language classes to all. Students from various regions and professional backgrounds attend the academy and celebrate Sanskrit Day with great zeal.
The celebration included various programs, starting with felicitaion of Gurudev Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasaji and Shri Ajit Menon. The event featured the melodious singing of “Madhurashtakam,” a composition by Shri Vallabhacharya that describes the divine form and sweetness of Lord Krishna.
A short play, “Karma Phalam,” highlighted the importance of karma, emphasizing that it is a constant companion that remains even after death. Another segment explained the origin and significance of Sanskrit, the language of the gods, and how it has benefited humanity.
The play “Ishwarah Sarvatra Asti” conveyed the message that God is omnipresent and not limited to temples. A speech, “Yatha Karma Tatha Chakram,” stressed on the theory of karma, using relevant quotes to make the concept more understandable.
The presentation “Mahendrajalam” captivated the audience, leaving them wondering about the secrets behind it. Another speech discussed the true meaning of devotion.
The play “Bhaktị Vibhaktiḥ Cha” showcased the superiority of pure devotion and the story of how the renowned Sanskrit scholar Melpathur Narayana Bhattatiri composed the “Srimad Narayaniyam” despite being afflicted with paralysis.
The event concluded with a thanksgiving note to the attendees, followed by a lunch.The program, which started at 10 am, ended successfully at 1 pm, with a large number of attendees in attendance.
