A daring daylight robbery took place in Kharadi on December 17, when two bike-borne men snatched a gold chain worth Rs 3 lakh from a 45-year-old woman. According to the police, the incident occurred around 9:50 am when the woman, a homemaker, was on her way home after visiting a mall. The two men came from the opposite side on a bike, and the pillion rider snatched her chain before speeding away.
The woman reported the incident to the Chandannagar police, who have registered an FIR relating to the robbery. Sub Inspector Rahul Kolpe said that the woman told police that the duo came from Mundhwa and sped away towards Hadapsar from the Kharadi by-pass.
Unfortunately, the victim did not get a chance to note down the registration number of the bike, and could not provide a description of the suspects due to the sudden nature of the incident.
The police are investigating the case and are analyzing footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects. However, the images are unclear due to the high speed of the bike. A police team is also checking on criminals involved in property offenses and those released on bail from the Yerawada central prison.
