Pimpri, July 31: The Maharashtra government has granted approval to four preliminary Town Planning (TP) schemes prepared by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), accelerating the development process in adjacent villages within the PMRDA region. With the approval of these five schemes in total, approximately 6.8 km of the planned ring road can now be developed.

The TP schemes were initiated to facilitate the planned development of areas within PMRDA jurisdiction and ensure smooth land acquisition for the ring road. The proposals were submitted to the state government, which has now given final approval to four schemes—covering Wadachiwadi, Autade-Handewadi, and two for Holkarwadi. Additionally, a scheme for Fursungi, under Pune Municipal Corporation limits, has also been included.

Following state approval, PMRDA has begun the next phase of implementation, including land acquisition in consultation with relevant stakeholders. Public notifications have also been issued for 15 newly proposed TP schemes. Plans for these new areas will be finalized after consulting local representatives, citizens, and farmers.
