Pune, July 21, 2025: Pune Division, Central Railway, under the guidance and leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma, has successfully completed the Non-Interlocking (NI) work at Hadapsar station as part of major yard remodeling for the development of a Satellite Terminal, marking a major milestone in infrastructure augmentation. The total block duration was 17 hours, and the work was completed 30 minutes ahead of schedule, i.e., within 16 hours and 30 minutes, reflecting excellent planning and execution by all departments.

As part of this development, Hadapsar Yard underwent major reconfiguration, all executed under the scope of the Engineering Department. The works included extensive yard remodelling, Electronic Interlocking (EI) commissioning, and launching of 11 girders for a 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB). Other critical engineering works undertaken include:

  • Realignment and modification of tracks for improved operations
  • Infrastructure readiness for future handling of long-haul and terminating trains
  • Deployment of 210 labourers, 3 welding teams (12 personnel), and 5 blacksmith teams (15 personnel)
  • Heavy machinery support with 3 JCBs, 3 Poclain machines, 4 Hydras, 6 Dumpers, and 2 cranes (500T capacity) for safe and timely completion

The Signalling & Telecommunication (S&T) Department also played a vital role in this mission-critical work by commissioning the Kyosan make Electronic Interlocking (K5D system). Some key features included:

  • Configuration of 88 routes (including 47 main and 41 shunt)
  • Provision of Dual VDU in hot standby mode
  • 20 points wired with cross protection, 30 point machines, 16 main signals, and 47 DC track circuits
  • Deployment of Frauscher make MSDAC with 61 detection points
  • Use of Statcon make IPS, Efftronics Datalogger, earth leakage detectors, and Ravel make fire alarm system
  • EI system conforms to RDSO’s latest cyber security standards

These upgrades enhance safety, reliability, and route flexibility at Hadapsar station. With the new configuration, two additional loop lines have been provided and CSR/CSL of existing loop lines extended to 1115.43 m and 850.59 m respectively, enabling decongestion of Pune Junction.

Under the TRD (Electrical Department) Wing, comprehensive traction infrastructure improvements were executed:

  • Extension of OHE to three platform lines
  • Commissioning of 2 stabling lines and 1 crossover
  • OHE modifications for FOB and Central Overbridge (COP) launchings
  • Execution with the help of 3 eight-wheeler tower wagons, 1 crane special, and 125 skilled staff

To facilitate passengers during the block, Train No. 12130 Howrah–Pune Azad Hind Express was short-terminated at Loni station. In a proactive move, PMPML buses were arranged to ferry passengers comfortably from Loni to Pune Railway Station, ensuring passenger convenience remained a top priority.

The successful and early completion of this NI block not only marks a key milestone in Pune Division’s journey toward expanding passenger handling capacity but also demonstrates its commitment to infrastructure excellence, safety, and service reliability.
