Pune, July 20, 2025: In a significant move to address the growing traffic chaos in Hinjawadi IT Park, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate conducted a detailed traffic survey in collaboration with the #UnclogHinjawadiITPark e-petition team on Friday. The survey, held between 10 am and 2:30 pm, was led by Additional Commissioner of Police and DCP Traffic following directives from Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey.

The information was shared by Wakad And  Pimpri Chinchwad Residents Development And Welfare Association on X handle yesterday.

This development comes after a high-level meeting with the Chief Minister on July 10, 2025, where citizens’ concerns regarding persistent traffic congestion in the IT hub were raised.

Several critical bottlenecks were identified during the survey:

  • Madhuban Hotel Chowk (near Indian Oil Petrol Pump)
  • Shell Petrol Pump Intersection (before Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk) – cited as a “puncture point” creating bottlenecks
  • Pandav Nagar Chowk (next to TATA Technologies/Infosys Circle) – a major choke point causing traffic to spill over 2 km, affecting Godrej Society’s main gate
  • SEZ Bhavan Circle (Phase 3) – plagued by wrong-side entries
  • Wipro Phase 2 Circle – a key roundabout often gridlocked
  • Croma Chowk/Amsterdam Hotel Chowk – recommended for a portable traffic signal
  • Service Road and National Highway near Bhujbal Chowk/Hinjawadi Bridge – severe congestion on both sides

The survey suggested several measures, including deploying additional traffic police, installing portable signals, constructing dividers, restricting wrong-side entries, and ensuring left-turn free movement where possible.

These interventions are expected to be rolled out over the next 2–3 weeks based on staff availability and coordination with local citizens.

The #UnclogHinjawadiITPark e-petition, filed on June 22, 2025, has gathered momentum, reflecting a collaborative effort between citizens and authorities for a smoother traffic experience in Pune’s crucial IT corridor.
