Pune: Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested In Chakan For Unauthorized Stay In India
The Chakan Police Task Force apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals for residing illegally within the jurisdiction of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey following intelligence reports about unauthorized stays by foreign nationals in certain parts of the city, particularly in industrial areas.
On December 23, 2024, officers from the Wakad Police Station, along with the Chakan Anti-Terrorism Cell (ATC), received a tip-off about Bangladeshi nationals working as housekeeping staff at Sairaj Lodging near Alandi Phata. Acting swiftly, a police team led by Senior Inspector Pramod Wagh conducted a raid. Two individuals, identified as Tinku Chaudhary (31) and Khadija Khatun (24), were questioned. Both provided identification documents, including an Aadhaar card and an Election Commission card. Upon further verification, these documents were found to be forged.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to being Bangladeshi citizens from the Sherpur district in Dhaka. They had entered India illegally and had been residing in the Chakan area. A case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections of the Foreigners Act, 1946, and the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950.
This action was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Shashikant Mahavarkar, and Deputy Commissioners Vivek Patil and Shivaji Pawar. The investigative team comprised officers such as Senior Inspector Pramod Wagh, Sub-Inspector Ganpat Dhaygude, and others from the Chakan ATC branch.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing to uncover further details about their activities and the network facilitating illegal entry.
