Satara, May 27: Immediate steps must be taken to prevent traffic congestion on the Karad-Chiplun route, directed Shambhuraj Desai, Tourism Minister and Guardian Minister of Satara district. He instructed local authorities to remove encroachments along the route and implement necessary measures at the local level.

Minister Desai was speaking during a virtual meeting held from his official residence in Mumbai. Present at the meeting were District Collector Santosh Patil, Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi (via video conferencing), Patan Sub-Divisional Officer Sopan Tompe, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Patil, Dayanand Vibhute (Superintending Engineer, National Highways – Pune), Tehsildar Anant Gurav, and Shruti Naik (Executive Engineer, National Highways), along with other officials from related departments.

The minister emphasized that illegal structures on the Karad-Chiplun highway, especially in the Rada-Roda area, must be cleared as a priority. He also instructed officials to repair potholes and ensure water does not accumulate on the highway during the monsoon. He noted that side shoulders of the road had eroded in several areas and should be filled on priority.

Minister Desai further ordered that these works be completed within the next eight days, and that officials from the revenue and police departments inspect the route and suggest additional measures as needed.
