Chandannagar, 21st March 2025 – In a shocking incident, an IT engineer allegedly murdered his three-and-a-half-year-old son, suspecting his wife’s character. The accused, identified as Madhav Tiketi (38), slit the child’s throat and abandoned the body in a deserted area before fleeing. Pune Police have arrested him.

The case came to light when the child’s mother filed a missing person complaint at Chandannagar police station, reporting that her husband and son had been missing since Thursday afternoon. Police immediately launched an investigation, analyzing CCTV footage from Lohgaon, Vadgaonsheri, and Hadapsar.

CCTV footage from Thursday at 2:30 pm showed Madhav with his son. However, by 5:00 pm, he was seen alone, purchasing clothes, which raised suspicions. Tracking his mobile location, police traced him to a lodge in Vadgaonsheri, where he was found intoxicated.

DCP (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav stated, “The accused had been unemployed for two months. Previously, he worked in the IT sector. His growing suspicion about his wife’s character led him to doubt his son’s paternity, ultimately driving him to commit this horrific act.”

Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne of Chandannagar police station added, “Through technical analysis, we tracked the accused and arrested him. He had premeditated the crime, purchasing a knife and blade before taking the child. The body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is underway.”

Madhav, originally from Visakhapatnam, had moved to Pune in 2016 for work. He is currently in police custody, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
