Pune: Ivy Estate In Wagholi Hosts Vibrant Litti-Chokha Get-Together, Celebrating Bihar-Jharkhand Traditions
Ivy Estate in Wagholi, Pune, witnessed a vibrant cultural evening on December 14, 2024, as over 200 residents from Ivy Estate and nearby societies, came together to celebrate a Litti-Chokha get-together. Organized by the Vaishali Sanskritik Sanghatna (VSS), the event showcased the rich traditions and flavors of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Purvanchal.
VSS, a community group of families from Bihar-Jharkhand-Purvanchal, aims to preserve and promote their cultural heritage by celebrating regional festivals and fostering unity among members. The Litti-Chokha event was another example of their efforts to bring people closer.
The evening was a delightful blend of tradition, food, and harmony. The highlight of the event was the authentic preparation of Litti-Chokha, a traditional dish from the eastern part of India, served with smoky mashed brinjal and tangy mashed tomatoes, called chokha. Residents enjoyed the delectable spread and shared stories of their homeland, making the gathering a warm and nostalgic experience. Adding to the culinary treat, pani-puri and jalebi were also served, further enhancing the joyous celebration.
Bhojpuri songs played during the event brought the atmosphere to life. Members enjoyed preparing Litti-Chokha on a barbecue grill, sharing stories, and warming themselves by the fire.
Speaking at the event, a representative from VSS said, “This celebration is not just about food; it’s about preserving our culture and creating a home away from home for all members of the community”.
The Litti-Chokha get-together received widespread appreciation, leaving everyone eagerly awaiting the next VSS celebration.
