Pune: In a shocking theft, jewellery worth ₹13,59,401 has allegedly been stolen from a locker at a reputed cooperative bank’s Nana Peth branch. The incident, reported by a 65-year-old woman from Bibwewadi, is believed to have occurred between March 30 and May 15, 2024.

The woman, along with her sister-in-law, had stored gold and silver jewellery in the locker. Upon discovering the theft, she alerted the bank authorities, but their records showed no instance of the locker being opened during the specified period. This raised suspicions about how the jewellery was stolen and whether it was properly secured in the locker.

The crime was registered after reviewing bank records and CCTV footage, a formal complaint was filed, and further investigation is underway.

Authorities are working to unravel the circumstances behind the theft and have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.
