Pune, September 9, 2025: Tension gripped the Keshav nagar area of Mundhwa after a Shiv temple inside Godrej Infinity Society was vandalised, leaving residents outraged. The incident came to light on Monday morning when devotees discovered the Shivling uprooted and discarded in a garbage heap, while idols of Gauri and Ganesh were also desecrated.

According to residents, the idols had been installed during the holy month of Shravan. Regular visitors to the temple noticed the vandalism when they arrived for daily puja. The missing Shivling was later found in a nearby garbage pile, sparking shock and anger among society members. Residents alleged that the act was carried out by individuals within the society, pointing out that CCTV cameras were switched off during the time of the incident.

The matter was reported to the Mundhwa Police, and residents have demanded strict action against those responsible. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify the culprits.

Terming it an encroachment and violation of Model Bye-Laws, the committee lodged a formal complaint with statutory authorities, following which the structure was removed. Members have been reminded that any future construction or installation in common spaces must receive prior approval from the committee, the General Body, and relevant authorities. The society has warned that violations will be dealt with strictly, urging residents to cooperate in maintaining compliance and preserving common property.”
