Pune: Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa Residents Demand Urgent Action From PMC Over Stray Dog Menace
Pune, Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa: The stray dog issue on Purva Silversands Road has escalated to alarming levels, creating fear and inconvenience for the residents in the area. Despite repeated complaints, the response from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been inadequate and ineffective, residents claim.
While the PMC dog squad has been sterilizing few stray dogs, the issue persists as the sterilized dogs are being released back into the same territory. According to residents, these sterilized dogs exhibit heightened aggression and are frequently seen attacking people in groups. This behavior has raised significant safety concerns for pedestrians, children, and the elderly in the vicinity.
“The situation has worsened after sterilization. These dogs, instead of calming down, have become more aggressive and pose a serious threat to our safety,” said a local resident.
The residents of Keshav Nagar and nearby areas are demanding immediate and effective measures from the PMC’s Animal Control Department. Suggestions include relocating aggressive dogs to specialized shelters and implementing community awareness programs to address the root causes of the problem.
The community has also warned that if future incidents of dog attacks occur despite these repeated complaints, they will hold the PMC accountable for any injuries or losses.
Residents are urging authorities to prioritize this issue and take swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
