Pune: Kondhwa Police Book Real Estate Agent And Landlord For Failing To Report About Foreign National Tenant
Pune – The Kondhwa Police have registered a case against a real estate agent and a property owner for failing to inform authorities about a foreign national staying at a rented flat in Kondhwa Khurd. The action was taken under the Indian Justice Code, Section 223(3)(5), based on an FIR filed on June 2, 2025.
According to police, officials received a letter from the Foreign Nationals Registration Wing, stating that an unauthorized foreign citizen was staying at Shivkrupa Building, Flat No. 3, behind Ajmera Hotel, Kondhwa Khurd. When the police team visited the location, they found that a foreign woman was residing in the flat, which belonged to a resident of Konarkpuram Society, Pune.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the tenant was arranged by real estate agent Adnan Shabbir Hussain Bohra (29), a resident of Saeeda Manzil, Bhagyodaynagar, Kondhwa Khurd. Neither the agent nor the property owner had conducted mandatory police verification or executed a rental agreement.
The Pune Police Commissioner’s office had earlier issued preventive orders dated May 7, 2025, effective from May 9 to July 7, under Section 163(3) of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023. These orders require landlords to inform the police in writing if they are renting out properties—especially for public safety. Since this directive was violated, both the agent and the landlord have been booked accordingly.
This action was taken under the guidance of senior officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 5 Rajkumar Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wanwadi Division) Dhanyakumar Godse, Senior PI Vinay Patankar, and Crime Inspectors Abdul Rauf Shaikh and Navnath Jagtap. Police personnel Kite, Sutar, Hussain Shaikh, Sawant, and More carried out the investigation.
